, Hi Lovelies,
Happy Friday the 13th! May all your Halloween wishes come true!
I love Halloween! More specifically, I love dressing up, watching scary movies, and baking delicious Halloween treats. Halloween is such a fun time of year! The leaves are changing, people decorate their houses, you can make festive dishes, AND you get to dress up as your favorite thing? It doesn’t get much better than that. I love to curl up with my bowl of candy corn and watch Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, or any scary movie.
Today I went on a pumpkin hike with my friends Sara, Kara, and Sam. As you guessed, it’s a hike that leads you to this huge pumpkin at the top! It’s about an hour away from where we live, in Norco, California, so we got up pretty early this morning and headed over. Norco, California’s nickname is Horse Town, which is very appropriate. As soon as we were within Norco city limits, everything had a western feel. It actually reminded me of Texas, which was really nice. Everything looked saloon style and had names like, “Rodeo Burger”or “Horse Town Cafe”. It was so cute. The sidewalks were made with dirt so that horse could walk on them more easily. We even passed by a horse hospital on our way to the trail!
A couple minutes after entering Norco we arrived at the pumpkin hike. It was right next to this horse stadium where I’m assuming they had competitions. There were no horses out but I wish there had been! I would have loved to see some barrel racing!
There was also this really cute statue next to the stadium that was titled Horse Town Stage! It overlooked beautiful homes and stables.
We embarked on our journey. The hike itself was only 25 minutes but it was very uphill! Here’s a pic of my friend Sam making her strides. It was a mix of gravel and dirt with a lot of horse poop in between. I broke a light sweat but it was nothing too strenuous.
There were also horse statues on the way up there! I tell you, this town loves horses.
We arrived at the pumpkin! It was so much bigger than I expected! The pumpkin is a huge rock that has been spray painted to look like a pumpkin. It overlooks and protects Norco! People have tried to graffiti it, but the locals do a fantastic job of covering it up and maintaining their beautiful pumpkin! It’s pretty big.
The hike was so fun and the view was fantastic! So pretty! You could look down and see beautiful homes, stables, and, guess, what, horses!
I would definitely recommend this hike and will probably go on it again! Watch out for the horse poop!
Happy Friday the 13th everyone! 🙂
