Before I moved to California, I had heard of a couple of beaches here; Laguna, Venice, and Malibu. Since I moved here, I have learned of so many new and exciting beaches! One of them is Huntington Beach. I love Huntington Beach! It’s very close to Long Beach, about 15 minutes down Pacific Coast Highway. It’s a great beach to go to if you’re into surfing or want to have a nice day at the beach with your kids.
The other day, my friend from college and I went to Huntington Beach to see the US Open for surfing. We didn’t check the schedule before we left and unfortunately missed the competition haha! I am still so glad we went because it’s such a fun beach with huge waves and lots of cool shops. There was a Vans store on the beach that was HUGE and SO COOL.
There was also a string of street vendors across the street selling their merchandise. We wanted to go over there but, as you can see, it was super crowded. There were so many people at this competition even though it had ended for the day.
Although we missed the surfing competition, Vans was sponsoring the US Open and they had set up a skateboarding arena. Emily and I sat there for a while being amazed by the guts and talent that skaters have. I would not touch a skateboarding rink even if I was in head to toe padding and I got to meet Beyoncé at the end. Okay, maybe if I met Beyoncé.
All in all, I would definitely go back to Huntington beach! It was a very pretty can cool beach that had an inviting atmosphere and was family friendly. On the opposite side of PCH, there is a string of shops and restaurants that you can shop and eat at when you’re taking a break from the beach.
The only thing was that it was really hard to find a parking spot! We went kind of late in the day, but I’m sure that it would be fine if you got there earlier.
