Short post today!!!!!
When I was in college, I would eat meals by myself daily.
It became so routine that I would Snapchat my friends pictures of empty chairs and makeup personalities for the people I wish I was eating with.
I kid you not I used to do this.
All this time, I spent my time wishing I had a boyfriend to eat with instead of realizing I could have invited 3 people to eat with me right then and there.
I know, embarrassing, but that’s the honest truth.
You guys, I could have and should have invited the Holy Family to eat with me all those meals that I ate alone.
They would have been the perfect company.
Not only can we remind ourselves at the beginning and end of meals that food and eating are about unity with God, but we can make our entire meal a meal of peace and guidance. When we invite the Holy Family to eat with us, we connect ourselves to heaven and elevate our eating experience.
Not only that, but it can help to shape our eating choices and patterns. When we eat with the Holy Family we feel more of an awareness of what and how much we are eating.
If you were sitting at a table with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, would you eat cookies and ice cream for dinner?
Would you overeat in front of them?
When we invite the Holy Family into our meals, our meals will become more perfectly attuned to God’s original purpose for them, nourishment and enjoyment.
“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
I invite you to share this meal with me.
Jesus, may your presence nourish my soul as
I partake in the physical nourishment before me.
Mary and Joseph, may your love surround me
and direct my thoughts to the Lord above.”
