Why the name LillianDora?
I am so excited that you stumbled upon my blog and can’t wait to start sharing with you! The name, LillianDora, originated from my two grandmothers; Lillian from my father’s side and Dora from my mother’s. Both of my grandmothers inspire me to live a life of integrity and strive for my dreams, just like they did. They taught me invaluable lessons that I live by today. Lillian, an English teacher, made me complete English lessons during the summer (YES DURING THE SUMMER) so that I could stay abreast on my grammar and vocabulary for the next year. She taught me the importance of education and how it enables you to reach for your dreams. She also taught me that we must always strive to improve ourselves, even during down time; a lesson that I strongly believe in. Dora taught me to always pray and look to God to lead me in my life, another invaluable skill that I implement in my life today. Her fortitude and faith are inspirational and motivate me to become a virtuous woman like herself. These women continue to motivate me and, hence, the name LillianDora was born.
You’re name isn’t LillianDora so who are you?
My name is Lauren Cook and I am originally from Houston, TX. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University and am currently attending a combined Master in Nutritional Sciences and dietetic internship program at California State University-Long Beach. Ultimately, I hope to become a registered dietitian and inspire people to live healthy and well-balanced lifestyles. Everything food, beauty, and travel related has always fascinated me and I strive to create the healthiest meals and most holistic beauty methods! I also want to share all of my adventures and travels with you! Outside of these passions, I love to hike, watch reality TV, and complete paint-by-numbers (I know they’re for kids, but I love them).
Why Food and Beauty?
Nutrition is not limited to the food we eat, but how all food and nutrients interact with our bodies. Why, if we expect food to work in our bodies, would we not use it on our bodies? Food is so powerful and nourishes us in so many ways from the inside out, so why wold we not expect to work from the outside in as well? That’s why I don’t limit my nutrition to healthy eating, but also strive to receive nutrition through beauty routines as well. I strive to do everything (hair, face, lip, skin, makeup, etc.) in the most natural and holistic way possible. I haven’t figured everything out yet, but as I do I will share my amazing recipes with you! Through this blog, I will share my collection of vegan recipes, beauty finds, and travel destinations with you. I will also include the nutrition knowledge that I have learned throughout my undergraduate and master degrees, dietetic internship, and experience in nutrition and fitness fields.
And Also A Little Adventure?
In addition to my favorite recipes, I will also share my California and traveling adventures with y’all! I had never been to SoCal before I moved here a couple of weeks ago so I have a lot of exploring to do! I lived in College Station, TX for four year (when I attended A&M) which is not the most vegan friendly place I’ve ever been. The lack of vegan options was great because it allowed me to expand upon my cooking skills, but I am glad that I’m in a place with a lot more vegan restaurant options. I will be sharing my favorite restaurant spots as well as SoCal finds with y’all so if any of you live here/ever visit you’ll know where to go!
